M&S Cookie... Virtually saved my life!
I used to be able to upload photos directly onto Facebook with the FB app on my Blackberry. For some reasons, I haven’t been able to do so recently and it worries me – Uploading on Blackberry seems to be the only possible way after all other means had been blocked and now I have a feeling that I’m losing it too…. arrrggghhh…
Didn’t have much going on this weekend so I’ve decided to do a bit of shopping while the big sale is going on in Shanghai. Today, I’ve chosen to pay a visit to Marks and Spencer on Nanjing Xi Lu (南京西路) right after gym.
When I found out there’s actually a M&S in Shanghai, I was overly delighted – afterall M&S doubles the homely feeling for me. M&S is a British brand and if you’d been following the stories on my blog here you’d know that my childhood/teenage was actually spent in England. Second of all, M&S has all the things that I am familiar with, things that I regularly bought when I was living in HK. As much as I love M&S, I had only been able to stop by briefly. Today I finally had a chance to take my time walking through the 5-stories flagship of M&S in China.
The minute I stepped into M&S I was immediate attracted by the sign “Up to 50% off”.
Wow. And they really mean it.
I browsed through the first floor which was women’s clothing and it took me almost 45 mins to get through it, ended up with a basket carrying a half-priced cashmere sweater, a silk/wool/cashmere mixed turtle neck and a faux fur wool vest. Oh and I haven’t finished. The accessories are on a buy-2-get-1-free promotion. So there you go. I had a few pairs of earrings too.
These guys here are very serious about price-cuts. I can only guess that they probably have quite a bit of problem with their stock inventory…
The 2nd floor was Una Donna (again, women’s clothing), which I didn’t manage to find anything fancy of my size (for your information, coats were down to half price too!). Then it’s underwear and stuff on the third, men’s clothing on the fourth, which I practically skipped as I was too anxious to get to the fifth floor.
Food!
Food that I’m more familiar with. Like biscuits, crisps, pies and stuff.
And guess what I found – the M&S bakery! With no customers waiting. None at all!
And so you know what happened – which is exactly what’s being shown in the photo of this blog – I found my favourite chocolate chip cookie. The ultimate treat of the day.
The first thing I did when I got home was to quickly put one in the microwave and immediately the smell of the nice, warm cookie conveyed a feeling of comfort. It’s sort of like having a home-made congee prepared by mom on a sick day, that you’d know it could not have done your any harm but to make your life feels better.
Exactly what I needed on a Sunday evening, under the miserable, rainy weather.
P.S. – There’s also a M&S cafe on the 5th floor, something that we don’t have in HK. I’ll be sure to try it next time!
